Forensic Accountants Crucial In Fraud Investigation

18th December 2009

Forensic accountants have helped to bring a Kent shop owner to justice for trading in fake goods.

The man in question has been ordered to pay back £3.2 million. He also received a two year suspended sentence when he appeared at Canterbury Crown court on Tuesday.

The case is thought to be the largest amount ever demanded by a Trading Standards investigation.

The guilty party sold the bags, shoes and jewellery from his shop and market stall.

The six year investigation included searches at a number of businesses across the county and trading standards officers carrying out test purchases from the shop.
